Ionic dialect ἰγνύη, ἡ, the part behind the thigh and knee, ham, κατ᾽ ἰγνύην βεβλημένος [Refs 8th c.BC+]; τὸ μόριον τὸ τῆς ἅλσεως κύριον (καλεῖται δὲ τοῦτο ἰγνύα) [ἰγνύαν 1st c.BC: Philodemus Philosophus “Academicorum Index” p.50 M.; περὶ τὴν ἰγνύαν 1st-2nd c.AD: Plutarchus Biographus et Philosophus “Artoxerxes” 11: \_dative\_ \_plural\_ ἰγνύαις LXX.1Kgs.18.21, 2nd c.AD: Lucianus Sophista “VH” 1.23">LXX+4th c.BC+]. —From a nominative ἰγνύς, ύος, ἡ, we find dative plural ἰγνύσι [ἰγνύας is indeterminate, 1st-2nd c.AD: Plutarchus Biographus et Philosophus “Galba” 26.
