Epic dialect also αὐτάρ (which see); ἀϝυτάρ[Refs]:—conjunction, but, nevertheless, marking a strong contrast; frequently in [Refs 8th c.BC+] to introduce an objection or correction, [Refs 8th c.BC+]; in form of a question, [Refs 5th c.BC+] truly thou didst say, [Refs 8th c.BC+]; γε is frequently added, with a word between,[Refs 8th c.BC+] when it may be translated then, [Refs 8th c.BC+]; ἀτὰρ ἠδέ is peculiar to [Refs 2nd c.AD+]
