τελαμών, ῶνος, ὁ,

broad strap or band for bearing or supporting anything (from τελᾰ- 'bear' (see. Τλάω, τελάσσαι), whence also the hero Telamon took his name):

__1 leathern strap or belt, frequently in [Refs 8th c.BC+]; for the sword alone, ξίφος σὺν κολεῷ τε καὶ ἐϋτμήτῳ τελαμῶνι [Refs]; περὶ στήθεσσι.. χρύσεος ἦν τ. [Refs 8th c.BC+]; for the shield, [Refs 8th c.BC+]; it passed over the shoulder and bore the chief weight, [Refs 8th c.BC+]
__2 broad linen bandage for wounds, [Refs 5th c.BC+] middle [Refs 5th c.BC+]; also, a long linen bandage or roller, for swathing mummies, [Refs 5th c.BC+]

__II in Architecture, Τελαμῶνες were colossal male figures used as bearing-pillars, being the Roman name for Ἄτλαντες, [Refs 1st c.BC+]
