ἄνθινος-ινος, η, ον,

of or like flowers, blooming, fresh, like{ἀνθηρός}: in [ἄνθινοςινον εἶδαρ,">Refs 8th c.BC+] where probably vegetable as opposed to to animal food is all that is meant; ἄ. κυκεών a drink flavoured with flowers, [Refs 5th c.BC+]; ἄ. ἔλαιον oil of lilies, [Refs 4th c.BC+]; εὐωδία[Refs 1st c.AD+]

__II flowered, bright-coloured, of women's dress, ἐσθῆτες, στολή, [Refs 1st c.BC+]; τὰ ἄνθινοςινα (i.e. ἱμάτιἀ gay-coloured dresses worn by the ἑταῖραι at Athens, [Refs 3rd c.BC+]; forbidden at religious festivals, [Refs 2nd c.BC+]; also of dresses worn at the Anthesteria by the Satyrs: hence τὴν φιλοσοφίαν ἄνθινοςινα ἐνέδυσεν he clothed philosophy in motley, of [Refs 2nd c.BC+], who delivered his precepts in sarcastic verses, like those used in the satyric drama, [Refs 4th c.BC+]
